Aesthetic Inner and Outer Dog Event by Dr. Darm

Dr. Darm: Aesthetic Inner and Outer Dog Event
This event that Aesthetic Medicine is coordinating is collecting donations for the May 12th, 2012 Doggie Dash.  Aesthetic Medicine has committed to a fixed amount of sponsorship to OHS and want to collect as much if not more for Oregon Humane Society (OHS).  If any of our partners are interested in joining Dr. Darm's Doggie Dash Team on May 12th, 2012, please contact John at john@drdarm.com.   I know that Fido’s Indoor Dog Park is a strong supporter of OHS and also has a Doggie Dash team.  Feel free to contact them directly if you are interested in joining them as well.  I want to let everyone know that 100% of all proceeds that we receive will go to the Oregon Humane Society.  At Aesthetic Medicine we may offer aesthetic services, but we strive to support the community by supporting many charities, but our main contributions are to the Oregon Humane Society, Relay for Life,  KEX Kids, and lastly the Susan Komen Foundation.  Dr. Darm’s wife is a cancer survivor and we know what the doctor’s family has gone through.  At Aesthetic Medicine we have 35 employees who are all animal lovers and love supporting the efforts at OHS.

Fido’s Indoor Dog Park will also be holding an event the same day from 12-5 pm, with a barbeque to help make both events successful.  Fido’s has donated a room for all of our partners to stand around and give advice or services from 12-2 pm. The address is 4949 SE 25th Ave, Portland, OR 97202 and the phone number is 503.477.9379.  Josephine Cetta was so kind in donating a space for us to use for our event. I know Mary Williams has assisted on behalf of Fido’s to help with the coordination of the events. The other contact that I have for Fido’s is Ann Crowder who handles the newsletter for Fido’s and will be adding this event to the newsletter. I know that Fido’s has a wonderful Facebook page and I would encourage anyone with internet to sign up and join.  Thank you again Fido’s we really appreciate your commitment for a successful event.

Both Fido’s and Aesthetic Medicine have hired Sean Moloney with My Bartender to offer beer and wine for purchase.  Sean will actually be at the events from 12-5:00 pm.  We thought that given that our event happens to be on Cinco de Mayo, having cold beverages for purchase would be a great option to our guest.  Thanks Sean for your help in making both of these events successful it’s appreciated and I hope that your services will be used by our partners in the future.

Our staff has made wonderful themed bandanas for the animals who attend the event for pictures. Aesthetic Medicine will be providing a pet area for photo’s with props such as a bandana, sombrero, Mexican blanket, and a poncho.  Our photographer John at Aesthetic Medicine will be coordinating the photo’s .  We will be asking each person to sign up on Dr. Darm Pets Facebook page to win prizes for our various photo’s.  The winners will be announced on our Facebook page.  For those who do not have a Facebook  and are not web savvy,  we will take your phone number and contact you if you are a winner.  Aesthetic Medicine every year prepare bandanas on Halloween and Christmas for the animals at the Oregon Humane Society.

To see photo’s of some of the bandanas:

This week Cort Furniture contributed by donating folding tables and some chairs for us to stage.  They have agreed to deliver and pick up from Fido’s.  We are envisioning that tables will be located around the room and we will have stations for the attendees to walk around and either ask questions or receive services.  We encourage our partners to bring information about the services that you provide.  This is a great way to network within the animal community for small businesses.  Please contact Dawn with any questions regarding Cort or if you ever require rental furniture or furniture in general, she is your go to person.

Donations will be collected by one of Aesthetic Medicines employees standing at the entry of the room that Fido’s has donated on our behalf.  We have several employees who will be assisting with the event.  Dawn is coordinating internally to make sure these individuals work with you for any help or assistance that our partners may require.  I will make sure Dawn contacts everyone on this email to let you know the employees who will be attending and assisting. I will be at the event along with my husband Jeff, who is also willing to assist.  Just grab either of us and we will be willing to assist.  Dr. Darm and his wife Suzy will also be attending the event to thank everyone for your support of the Oregon Humane Society.

We have acquired tons of prizes and Aesthetic Medicine has donated additional  prizes for the pet owners.  I would like to give a special thank you to Castor & Pollux as they have donated 50-5 Pound bags of dog food for prizes and giveaways for our attendees.  My contact Candy Cornelius has been such a wonderful connection and has coordinated with Aesthetic Medicine on many occasions.  Aesthetic Medicine has assisted the Oregon Humane Society by delivering large batches of cookies for Christmas and Halloween that we purchase from Castor & Pollux for the animals. I know that Castor & Pollux are strong supporters of the Oregon Humane Society and this is exactly why we partner with them for events such as this.

I was excited to hear that the Portland Fire and Rescue agreed to send Lila and Fabian.  Lila joined the Portland Fire & Rescue and works within the arson investigation unit as an Accelerate Detection Canine or, in common terminology, an arson dog. She is teamed with partner and handler, Lieutenant Fabian Jackson and is trained to detect the presence of petroleum-based fuels which can assist investigators in determining the cause of a fire and to alert Jackson to their location. In addition to providing service to Portland Fire & Rescue, she also provides assistance to other bureaus statewide. I encourage everyone to thank Fabian and give Lila a little love for taking the time to attend the event and answer questions.  Both Aesthetic Medicine and Dr. Darm are very thankful for them taking the time to attend.

We are so thankful for trainer and behaviorist Doug Duncan to donate his time for the event.  I encourage you to visit his website and visit with him at the event.  Doug will be on hand to answer questions and provide information to all of our attendees.

We are so happy that we found two pet psychics in the community who both were so wonderful about donating time and energy to attend the event.  I can’t say how thankful that we are that they are so willing to take the time and attend and provide services to the attendees.  I encourage you to take the time to look at the background, experience, and services that these two wonderful ladies offer. Ms. Rita Sandler and Ms. Faye Pietrokowsky I can’t say thank you enough for the support of two of the kindest people who were so excited to attend and help.

We also have Ms. Kathleen Shaughnessy who is a Veterinarian and owns Mt. Top Kennels.   She has agreed to come and provide any advice to the attendees.

We also have Jody Siska and some other technicians attending to provide nail trimming.

I would also like to thank  Katie from The Canyon Pet Hospital in Beaverton. They were kind enough to donate nail clippers and soft muzzles for the nail trimming.
