Dr. Darm: Race To Be Your Best

Race to Be Your Best: Dedicated Love from Portland Picks
Helping Out is A Good Thing
Especially When it Comes to the Cure

We ran into a friend who suggested we host a Botox party… our first thought was, “Do we need Botox?” Are we really “there”? Then we looked at her face—she’s got the skin of a 25-year-old and not a wrinkle in sight. There’s something to be said for that.

She also has a flat tummy (which we haven’t had since the 6th grade) and thin thighs. We might have to hate her. But instead, we’re looking to improve our self-image by improving our physical self. (And trust—we’ve done enough soul-searching and emotional growing to know that no matter how many times we say no to cupcakes or yes to 10 more reps at the gym, we can’t fight the power of natural aging without a little help.)

So we turn to Aesthetic Medicine - and we’re thrilled to share that they are a proud partner of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Dr. Darm has made a year-round pledge of platinum-level partnership to the Oregon and SW Washington Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. And this year marks the 20th Annual Komen Portland Race for the Cure, happening on September 18.

Be safe, be informed, and be happy with yourself. But if you want to make changes—for yourself and for others, check out Dr. Darm’s medical weight-loss program by clicking here, and sign up for the Race for the Cure by clicking here.

Dr. Darm is a proud sponsor of the American Cancer Society - Relay For Life 2011

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life-changing event that gives everyone in communities across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. At Relay, teams of people camp out at a local high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, Relays are overnight events up to 24 hours in length.

Relay began in 1985 when Dr. Gordy Klatt, a colorectal surgeon in Tacoma, Washington, ran and walked around a track for 24 hours to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Since then, Relay has grown from a single man’s passion to fight cancer into the world’s largest movement to end the disease. Each year, more than 3.5 million people in 5,000 communities in the United States, along with additional communities in 20 other countries, gather to take part in this global phenomenon and raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer. Thanks to Relay participants, the American Cancer Society continues to save lives.
