Dr. Darm's medical weight loss center is now located at 4800 Meadows Road, Suite 100, Lake Oswego, Oregon 97035. The company is pleased that continued client growth has necessitated the move to significantly expanded office space. The company feels its state-of-the-art facilities are the best in the area and they look forward to continuing to provide superior service from this new location.

Click here to see pictures taken during the open house on August 15th, 2012 attended by some of the local TV, radio and media personalities.

There are five (5) major components of our program which create more success and differentiate it from other weight loss programs:

1. Meal Replacements - One of the benefit of the meal replacement is to give clients a break from current eating behaviors and relationship with food while learning new skills. Meal replacements improve dietary compliance, decrease hunger, and allow optimal nutrition intake at a lower calorie value.

2. Behavior Modification Training - Weekly classes are designed to teach skills necessary to become an effective self-manager, instead of relying on willpower. Classes include such topics as - planning, environmental control, emotional eating, self-talk, building support, body image, portion control, physical activity, as well as healthy eating. Class attendance is an important part of our weight loss program and starts the fourth week. Classes are small and informative with sharing of issues by all in the group. We have tailored our classes to assist in guiding you toward a healthier lifestyle. Meeting with the dietitian or with the nutritionist individually is available, for an additional fee.

3. Medical Supervision - Physicians, Registered Dietitians, and Medical Assistants. Medications, appetite suppression, body composition analysis, lab draws, blood pressure and EKG. We also coordinate your progress with you primary care physician.

4. Exercise - One of the major predictors of successful weight loss and, even more importantly, weight maintenance. Our goal is to train clients to incorporate physical activity into any lifestyle, understand its importance, and learn to enjoy it!

5. Maintenance Program - Clients entering maintenance for one year and classes available for continued healthy behaviors for a lifetime.

Dr. Darm, New Year's Resolution

Many of us have losing weight as one of our new year's resolutions. Here with a solution that really works, Dr. Darm along with Patsy Lynn.

Patsy Lynn let's talk about you first. You've been telling folks that you lost 112 lbs.
"Actually, as of last Monday's weigh, it's a 118 lbs." she answered.

Wow! Fantastic! So how did you managed to do that? That's a lot!
"Well, I found out about Dr. Darm's program and it turns out it's pretty close to where I live which was very convenient. I went to check it out and the office manager explains the program to me and I was just at the point in my life where I was ready to get healthy. I was very unhappy on how I look and how I felt." Patsy answered back.

Looking at the before and after. You look like a whole new person.
"Yes I feel like a whole new person." she said.

I assume you've tried other things before it.
"I did. I tried every other program and diet out there. But the support of this clinic, the nutritionist, the medical supervision knowing that I was gonna have my blood levels check, I just thought that this was the way to go." she added."

Dr. Darm tell us how this program works and there are options for everyone, right?
"This is medically supervised and the reason that it works so well...the average person loses 40 t0 60 lbs. Patsy's done so much better she's such a great patient but we do liquid fasting program and it's high in protein low in fat, low in carbs, and it's the Atkins principle and that is why the appetite disorder disappears and people lose so much weight. We use medical suppressant appetites as well if needed and of course it's medically supervised with the dietitians and the nutritionist will meet weekly with our patients to educate them. So it's really complete and totally medically supervised weight loss program."

We have met a lot people who have lost weight and then gained it all back because it haven't changed lifestyle or they have missed something. How do you cover that for people? Is that through the education?
"It is through the education. The weekly classes with the dietitians are extremely helpful. Support within the rest of the group, and exercise is encourage. And I exercise regularly now."

Did you exercise at the start?
"It was very difficult to get into exercising. I hated it. But I know it was important and I just made myself try and do it and made myself do it and now I exercise 5 to 6 times a week at least."

The way you feel now, when you see yourself were you surprise?
"I am surprise every time I walk by store friend or look into the mirror. I am joyous! That's what it is. I have more energy than I think I ever had."

Patsy Lynn you look great, congratulations again!

Dr. Darm with Medically Supervised Weight Loss Patients Rick and Kathy Webb

Dr. Darm of Aesthetic Medicine went to AMNW on December 15, 2011 with weight loss patients Rick and Kathy Webb to tell us how the medically-supervised weight loss program not only helps you achieve your weight loss goals but can dramatically improve your overall health.

So, Dr. Darm explain first how the weight loss program works.
Well, it's medically-supervised and many of the patients opt to take the food holiday. They go away from food for a while and just used the diets shakes and the weight comes off very quickly and effectively. In essence, the appetite goes away when you're in this program which is why the average patient loses about 40 - 60 lbs.

When you say food holiday, how long is that holiday?
3 to 6 months.

What are you doing for nutrition?
The shakes are nutritionally balanced, so you get basically get everything that you need. You really get healthier when you're in these shakes than when you are in the American diet.

Rick and Kathy let's take a look on your before and after pictures, incredible! Rick, what was the whole process life for you?
You know, you go on to the shakes, you start losing weight I think I lost 10 lbs the first week or pretty close to that and it just sheds off every week and it's really easy.

Were either of you having medical issues because of your weight?
I have been a diabetic for probably 5 or 6 years now, I am taking insulin every evening and I think it was like 5 shots a night. Now I'm taking half shot a night and I'm actually even better as far as my numbers. I'm actually down in the 80-85 range that you're suppose to be.

Kathy, I can understand why a couple might want to try the program together because it's easy, but tell us how much easier was it to do a weight lost program to do it with your husband?
Actually it made super simple. First of all, the program is really easy. It takes away all your choices because your drinking your meals but I couldn't do it without..uhm..doing it with my husband just because there's no food in the house.

No temptations.

Let's take a loot at your before and after pictures. Remarkable pictures here. How much weight did you lose?
I lost 37 lbs.

Wow! How do you feel now? How's life changed for both of you? What can you do now that you didn't used to do?
Cross my legs!

How do you feel, Rick?
I feel great! Not only my diabetes a lot better but I had arthritis signs coming on fairly heavily, I had a bad knee and hip and the lose of the weight I don't even feel those anymore which is awesome.

And Dr. Darm, why is it so important to be medically supervised while you undergo a program like this?
We do lab test every month, we do an EKG, before they start. And for example like Rick, we need to monitor the level of insulin and so on and those have to be drop very quickly in other words you got to make some changes. So that's why it is so important to be medically supervised the patients.

It's really a good point because as you mentioned your medication has changed and if you are doing it at home on your own and your medication has changed, you maybe over medicated for some point.

Now what do they have to do to maintain their weight?
We do the maintenance program, continue to take shakes, 2 to 3 shakes a day, walk 3 miles a day and of course have regular visits for the reinforcement that we give during the maintenance program.

Dr. Darm, Medically-suvervised Weight Loss by AMNW

Dr. Darm, Medically-supervised Weight Loss (Weight Loss Management Program)
AMNW show
May 23, 2011

Thanks for watching AMNW on this Monday morning. Unresolved personal issues can often stand in the way of serious weight loss. Here’s Janice Bangs with more.

I am with Dr. Darm this morning at Aesthetic Medicine to talk about their weight management program. What is involved in your weight management program?
Our weight management program is medically-supervised weight loss program and it’s very carefully monitored, it’s very aggressive. The average patient loses 40 to 60 lbs. and many of the patients go away from food, take a food holiday for a while and go to the shakes. It’s extremely effective. The reason is because people lose their appetite as their fasting as if they’re doing it fast. And so it’s not unusual to lose 100 lbs or even more in this program.

And we do have patient Patsy Marquardt this morning. Patsy, what brought you to Aesthetic Medicine?
I had reached a point in my life where I just felt a completely down, the depression, not feeling like I really belong in the society. I’d go on a trip in an airplane and I’d have to be embarrassed to ask for the seatbelt extender. I mean, heaven forbid, going to the restroom and fitting to the door. And going in to a restaurant then wondering where they’re going to sit me, am I gonna fit in that booth and just the embarrassment of all that I think I kind a hit me at a point where “No, I’m not to take this anymore.” I value myself too much.

You also had some personal experience that contributed to you not been able to get below a certain weight point.
Yes, I did. When I was 19, 20 years old I was raped and had some sexual abused after that. Then I gained the weight, kind a protection type of a thing regardless of my family and my loving husband, it just consumed me. And so I decided that I would get some other therapy and the 200 pounds was like when you got below that I would feel attractive and sexy and that was very scary for me, it was a protective mechanism. And between Dr. Darm, Nancie and Marge just compassion and their concern for me and my outside therapy, I’ve been able to get passed that point and it has been a just like great feeling to feel within myself that I am worthy of this. I am worthy of looking like this and that’s been a big load lifted off my shoulders.

And how much weight have you lost overall?
I have lost overall a 142 lbs. I’m not finished yet so I’m not in maintenance yet but the classes I attend with Nancie and Marge getting to this point are fantastic and the help from the other people, the sharing that we do is just remarkable. I can’t say enough about the people here.

And that is an incredible testimony. Dr. Darm, do you see other patient like Patsy?
Absolutely, we are very supportive, we acknowledge these issues, we ask them to get special counseling for their special needs but a lot of people like Patsy have done fabulously here.

And I believed that Patsy is a great testament to the weight management program here at Aesthetic Medicine so call (503) 697 9777 for your free consultation with Dr. Darm and his staff.
